Batty Langley Lodge
Batty Langley Lodge is situated in a quiet location on the old Dublin entrance to Castletown House. The 18th century building was once part of the landscape architecture around Castletown House. The plans were based on the design for a „Gothic Temple“ from Batty Langley’s book „Gothic Architecture“ (published in 1747). The façade was attached in 1785 to an existing rectangular cottage. Situated far from other settlements, the buildings privacy made it a suitable location for the priviledged nobility to indulge their fantasies of an Arcadian freedom and to don the mask of shepherds, farmwives or dairymaids.
The house sleeps two people. No TV, no Wi-Fi. Due to its vicinity to Dublin, it is an ideal home base for visits to the city.
