Travel Tips for Majorca

Reisetipps für Mallorca

In general it can be said that Mallorca has an extremely well developed Wifi network. There are hotspots not only in Palma, but also in the many touristically interesting places - such as in and around the Cathedral of Palma, which is otherwise well worth a visit. Not to mention, of course, the many promenades.
However, Mallorca in particular also has the advantage that – once you have left behind the WLAN offer at the airports, which is often quite onerous for those affected by EHS – you can fly relatively quickly to a destination where you can soak up the sun and relax. Then it's simply "Get out of the city to a remote place!". A rental car makes you independent, but also with Tren de Sóller, the old slow train that connects Palma with Sollér (and which is one of the last public transport options without WiFi coverage), you can also easily get to the west coast.

Digital Detox Vacation on Majorca – Our Tips

#1 – On the west coast outside of Banyalbufar is the Cottage “Sa Pedreta”, which can be booked through Airbnb. Ideal for 2 guests looking for peace and nature. Both cottages are lovingly and individually furnished and the terraces offer wonderful views of the sea.

#2 – Also on the west coast just outside the center of Banyalbufar is the small Finca Banyalbufarina. This accommodation is an ideal retreat for up to 4 people who value peace and nature. The finca is lovingly furnished and from the terrace you have a beautiful view of the sea. There is no internet access - a suitable accommodation for a "digital detox holiday". The finca does not have its own website but can be requested via Tripadvisor, for example.

#3 – Further along the coast towards Sóller, 5 minutes drive from Deia and 10 minutes drive from Valldemossa, not far from “Son Marroig” is a lovely casita. It offers space for 2 people, has a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower, a bedroom with double bed and direct access to the garden, from which you have a fantastic sea view.

#4 – Between Deia and Sóller, with a view of the surrounding mountains and surrounded by olive trees in a large garden, is the Finca Casa Miguel. The finca is an ideal starting point for hikes along the coast - highly recommended is the Camino de Alconasser, also known as the "painter's path". It is in a quiet location and is therefore an ideal place to switch off completely. There is space for up to 6 people.

#5 - On the same stretch of coast is Casita Muleta, a charming, very secluded cottage - a romantic retreat for a nature-loving couple. The casita is on a large lot that stretches down to the ocean. The coast can be wonderfully explored here on old smugglers' paths. The power supply of the house comes exclusively from solar power, so a conscious use of resources is important with this accommodation.

#6 – Our insider tip for Sóller: Within walking distance of the city center, but outside of the wifi network, lies Robert and Maria's CasitaThis pretty small stone house enchants with its quiet location just above the city, as well as with the loving and tasteful design of the house and garden. Perfect accommodation for 1-2 people who want to enjoy both the tranquility and the flair of Sóller from time to time. There is a repeater in the house that probably picks up the WiFi from the public network, but you can simply unplug it and have peace and quiet.
The house is located on the southern outskirts of Sóller on a mountain slope, which shields the mobile phone radiation from the transmitter on the mountain massif above the Sóller Pass, which otherwise supplies the entire valley. Despite the proximity to the city, there is hardly any impairment of WiFi coverage in this accommodation, even through the surrounding fincas.

#7 – Pretty secluded between the mountains of the Tramuntana, about 15 minutes from Sóller and Fornalutx, you'll find Casita L’Olivar. The stone house is lovingly furnished and is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden with pool. It can accommodate 2 guests.

#8 – In a completely different area of Mallorca, on the east coast, is the Boutique Hotel San Corb. It is part of a 17th century finca with over 30 hectares of land. Located on the east coast, just minutes from the small community of Son Servera, the hotel offers 22 rooms that have been lovingly restored by their owners. Each room has its own terrace and direct access to the garden. A wonderful place to enjoy silence, peace and quiet. Wifi access is only available in the lobby.
